The Library is now offering Playaway “Launchpad” tablets for children to to check out. Launchpads are smart tablets pre-loaded with age-appropriate, ad-free apps that are both educational and entertaining. Best of all, no connectivity or downloading is required for use, just like the Playaway pre-loaded books that children and adults have been enjoying at the Library for years. The apps are grouped on the tablets by subject area, theme, grade level, and age, making it easy for parents and their children to choose a tablet that most appeals to them. Each Launchpad is 100% secure (children cannot go out onto the Internet), providing hours of interactive learning and play without the risk of exposure to unintended content. Subject offerings include math, science, critical thinking skills, and creative play, using such themes as animals, fantasy, nature, and more. Children can customize their experience by creating their own personal avatar. These are currently only at the Graubner Library’s Children’s Room, so come in and check one out today.
ROMEO DISTRICT LIBRARY IS HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE…
NO MORE OVERDUE FEES
It is the mission of the Library to provide equal access to information, services, and opportunities that educate, enrich, and entertain. Fines are a barrier to that access. Eliminating that barrier opens doors to all in our community to utilize the resources the Library offers.
All Romeo District Library-owned materials will no longer have overdue fines. Materials that are obtained through Inter-library Loan are borrowed from other libraries, and therefore are still subject to fines.
If you have returned all materials to the Romeo District Library all your fines have been waived.
Fees for lost or damaged materials remain. There are also library card replacement fees.
28 days after the final due date, materials that are not returned will be considered lost and customers will be billed the replacement cost. At any time customers may return materials to have all associated fees canceled. Borrowing privileges for library cards with a balance of $5 or more will be restored when materials are returned or balance is paid in full.
