tutor.com This is a free tutoring service provided by the library for after-school homework help. It can be accessed every day from 4:00-11:00 p.m. Subjects covered include math, English (including ESL), science, writing, social studies, Spanish, job searching, and resume help.

Databases The Michigan eLibrary (MeL) offers databases which are extremely helpful when doing research. Some database examples include Britannica (middle and high school), Learning Express Library, Opposing Viewpoints, Gale Virtual Library, and Info Trac. Just use your library card to logon; you can even do this at home.

Homework Spot This site offers help in a variety of subjects. There is also a college prep section to help teens to start thinking and preparing for college.

Khan Academy The Khan Academy is a nonprofit organization offering free help in subjects such as economics, math, computing, science, arts, history, and career help. They also have free practice problems in areas such as math that break down the problem and lectures are available.

OWL Purdue Online Writing Lab This is an excellent resource for writing that help beyond high school. If you need help citing resources for a research paper or don’t know how to format a paper (whether it’s MLA or APA style), this is your go-to resource.
