a Library Card"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Welcome to the wonderful world of libraries \u2013 where your library card is your ticket to the past, the present and the future!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>HOW TO OBTAIN A LIBRARY CARD<br \/>\nAll residents and property owners in Bruce Township, the Village of Romeo, and Washington Township are eligible for a Romeo District Library card.\u00a0 Your Romeo District Library card will be good at public libraries in Macomb County, the Harper Woods Public Library, and the Troy Public Library \u2013 all the libraries of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.libcoop.net\/wordpress\/\"><em>Suburban Library Cooperative<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>If you do not live in the Village of Romeo, Bruce Township or Washington Township you will need to obtain a library card from your home library, which is usually the library nearest to where you live.\u00a0 Contact your home library for further information.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em>To obtain your card you will need to show or do the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>PROPER IDENTIFICATION<\/strong> \u2013 if you are an adult (<em>18 years or older<\/em>) you will need to show a current photo ID from the following list:\n<ol>\n<li>Driver\u2019s license<\/li>\n<li>State ID<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>VERIFY RESIDENCY<\/strong> \u2013 you will need to show proof of where you live.\u00a0 Show something from the following list:\n<ol>\n<li>Driver\u2019s license or state id with current address<\/li>\n<li>Current property tax receipt<\/li>\n<li>Current rent receipt<\/li>\n<li>Current automobile registration<\/li>\n<li>Current utility bill<\/li>\n<li>Out-of-state driver\u2019s license in combination with other verification listed here showing current address<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong><u>PLEASE NOTE \u2013 residency requirements are based on property taxes and NOT the school district.\u00a0 There is a special tax levied for the library that is included in <a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a>with property taxes<\/u><\/strong><u>.\u00a0 <\/u><\/li>\n<li>(<em>Residents who do not live in the Village of Romeo, Bruce Township or Washington Township should contact their home libraries for information<\/em>.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>APPLICATION<\/strong> \u2013 you will need to complete a library card application form.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/romeodistrictlibrary.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/LIBRARY-CARD-APP2018.pdf\">DOWNLOAD FORM HERE<\/a>.\u00a0 You will also complete the application process and receive your card at the circulation desk.\n<ol>\n<li>Fill out the front of the library card application form if you are an adult and you are applying for a card for yourself.\u00a0 (All adults MUST apply for their own cards.)<\/li>\n<li>If you are applying for a card for anyone under 18 years of age you will need to fill out the front of the library card application with the child\u2019s information and the back of the form with your information.\u00a0 You must be the child\u2019s parent or LEGAL guardian (if legal guardian you will need to show guardianship papers).\u00a0 You will also need to show proper identification and proof of residency (see #1 and #2 above).\u00a0 REMEMBER \u2013 you are signing to be responsible for anything checked out on that card.\u00a0 There is also a section on the application form to add the name of a family member granting the library permission to give them information about overdue items, fines, etc. on that child\u2019s card.<\/li>\n<li>A separate application form must be completed for every library card.<\/li>\n<li>Give the application form, along with your proof of identification and proof of residency to a staff member at the circulation desk.<\/li>\n<li>Your information will be entered into the computer system.\u00a0 Staff will check to make sure you do not already have a card in the system.<\/li>\n<li>You will be given a library card, a pin number and some information about the library.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>PLEASE NOTE \u2013 family members CANNOT use each other\u2019s cards to check out.\u00a0\u00a0 You must use your own card.<\/p>\n<p>If you are not a resident of Bruce Township, Washington Township or Romeo, or of one of the member communities of the <em>Suburban Library Cooperative<\/em>, please ask us about <a href=\"http:\/\/milibrarycard.org\/\"><strong>MiLibraryCard <\/strong><\/a>and <strong>Non-resident<\/strong> cards.<\/p>\n<p>The Clinton-Macomb Public Libraries, Harrison Township Library and Troy Public Library ARE part of the <em>Suburban Library Cooperative<\/em>, but they use a different computer system from the rest of the cooperative.\u00a0 If you wish to use their libraries you
