Memorial Day Holiday Closing

Both branches of the Romeo District Library will be closed Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. Both branches will re-open at the regularly scheduled time on Tuesday, May 28.

Please put materials to be returned in the drop boxes located at both branches.

The Friends of the Romeo District Library is having a “Big Ole Book Sale”! The sale is located in the Ford Meeting Rooms at the Graubner Library. The sale runs from Tuesday, May 21 – Friday, May 24 & Tuesday, May 28 – Friday, May 31. The sale is open: 9:00 am – 9:00 pm , Monday – Thursday and 10:00 am – 6:00 pm, Friday.

Many hardcover and paperback fiction, non-fiction, children’s and teen, audio visual materials and more!

Summer Hours at Graubner Library

The Graubner Library will institute their summer hours beginning Sunday, May 26.

The Graubner Library summer hours are:

Monday – Thursday: 9:00 am – 9:00 pm

Friday and Saturday: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

The Graubner Library is closed on Sundays, beginning on Sunday, May 26.

Attention all Superman fans, come into the Library to receive a FREE comic book and celebrate all that is Superman! The first 22 kids ages 9 to 18 dressed in a favorite superhero T-shirt or costume will receive a FREE copy of the DC comics The New 52! Adults prohibited.

Teen Music Club

Calling all music lovers! Come spend an hour at the Graubner Library to discuss and experience all things music related. Meetings will be designed like a book group only with music being the topic of discussion. Listening suggestion lists will be created at the first meeting to later be experienced at future meetings. Come ready to listen and discuss bands, stories and share songs!
Meetings will take place June 27th, July 25th, and August 22nd.

Teen Personal Time Capsules

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to look back in 10 years to see how things have changed? If so come on by the Graubner Library and create your very own personal time capsule. All participants will need to bring in a container to be used as the capsule. The container can be a metal coffee can, plastic container, or a glass jar but the container must have a sealing lid.

Other suggested materials to bring would be:

Photographs (no ink-jet printed photos as these will fade too much over time).
Newspaper or magazine articles showing current events or trends.
Letters from family or friends addressed to your future self.
Mementos from trips, events, or gifts.
Filled journals.
Price tags, receipts, or a list of current costs for things.
Ticket stubs from a concert, movie, or sports event.
Old technology device such as an I-pod (preferably one that is not working since it will be sealed away for 10 years).
Old school paper or report card.
Favorite book, CD, or movie (again remember that this item will be sealed away for 10 years).
Anything that is important to you that might be fun to see again after 10 years.
Anything else you want.

**No materials can be used in the capsule that are liquid or organic as these will break down and make a mess of the inside of the capsule.**

Flying Aces Professional Frisbee Team

The Graubner Library is proud to present the professional Frisbee team the Flying Aces! The Flying Aces have performed and entertained audiences all across Michigan in every venue imaginable, and entertain audiences of all ages. The Flying Aces got their beginning at Eastern Michigan University in 1973 when Brian Hayes took his love for frisbee tossing indoors when winter came to Michigan.
In the early days, the Flying Aces did free basketball half-time shows for the Michigan State Spartans and the University of Detroit Titans as well as the Detroit Pistons and University of Michigan teams. Now, more than 30 years later, the Flying Aces continue to perform for audiences around the world with shows in all 50 states as well as other countries including Canada, Puerto Rico and Saudi Arabia. The Flying Aces have appeared on numerous local and national TV Spots as well as newspaper articles across the country.

Teens 6th to 12th grade are invited to spend a night of fun after Library hours. Entertainments will include a “Gamefest” Video Game Party courtesy of Joel Tacey Entertainments, Henna art courtesy of An Affair to Remember, online gaming, plus much more! Walk Like an Egyptian: A Night with the Pharaohs
